Then I noticed, windows people had sneaked windows 11 into my computer and the nvidia driver installer said that it was incompatible with this version of windows. REbooted, then proceeded to uninstall the nvidia version 471.graphics driver and then tried to reinstall it. The bios had reset itself to factory defaults so I had to change back to what was working fine for me. I went into bios and changed PCI slots, all of them, to Express 3. The computer immediately started doing this "force to reinstall." business. I am running an EVGA Geforce GTX 1080Ti, on an aorus x470 with bios F61 and it was working fine until I tried to install a Creative Mx sound card. Not sure exactly what triggered it as I had things running fine for a good few weeks prior to Christmas. Hopefully this will help someone else with a similar setup if they begin to experience the same issue.
Lo and behold, as soon as I booted, the display driver reinstalled and all is working smoothly again! I was unable to find a setting in my BIOS for forcing the PCI slot to v3, so I updated my BIOS from July 2019 to December 2020. My screen kept turning off for a few seconds at a time, then back on eventually (if at all). Tried DDU in safe mode and a reinstall of the latest Nvidia driver, then ran into the above "Force to reinstall graphics driver" issue in Windows. Just got back today and found that my screen audio via my 3080 and my 1440p DP monitor weren't working.

Turned my PC off and travelled with my partner for two weeks over Christmas. My setup was working swimmingly in late December. I have an ASUS Prime B450 Plus, a Ryzen 5 3600X and an RTX 3080.
